Track your brand in Google AI Mode
Firemark sends your buyer questions to Google AI Mode and records whether the answer names your brand, links your site and names your competitors. AI Mode is included in every plan, from Lite at $29 a month.
How Firemark tracks Google AI Mode
We send each prompt to Google AI Mode from the United States, in English, as one question with no follow-ups, and store the answer with its sources.
Each prompt is its own question. We do not run follow-up conversations, so the result is how AI Mode answers a first question from a buyer, which makes it comparable from run to run.
Scheduled runs use a standard queue overnight, US Eastern time. The queue is retried for up to 24 hours. After hour 20 the remaining cells go live, and anything still open at hour 24 is marked as an error and left out of the base, never counted as absence.
- Single questionOne prompt, one answer. No follow-up turns.
- US location, EnglishThe same location and language every run.
- Scored like the restThe same rules apply as for every engine: named and linked are separate counts, and a name found only in a list of sources does not count.
Firemark asks Google AI Mode each prompt as a single question from the US and counts how often the answer names and links your brand, separately from AI Overviews.
What you see for Google AI Mode
For AI Mode you see how often it names you, how often it links your site, how that compares with AI Overviews, and where you rank against your competitors.
- AI Mode beside AI OverviewsThe two Google engines side by side, so you can see where one names you and the other does not.
- Named and linkedYour brand in the answer text and your site among the sources are counted separately.
- Competitor rankYour rank among your tracked competitors on AI Mode answers, over time.
- SnippetsA sentence of up to 500 characters from each answer that names you, kept for as long as your account.

Prompt: best retail clienteling software for a growing brand
A growing brand might shortlist Tool A for its reach and Your Brand for its associate app. Teams often ask for a demo of each and compare how they connect to the point-of-sale system.
Illustrative text written for this page. In the product, a snippet is a sentence of up to 500 characters taken from a real answer.
What is different about Google AI Mode
AI Mode is a separate Google surface from AI Overviews, so the same brand can be named in one and missing from the other.
- Counted on its ownAI Mode and AI Overviews have separate counts, ranks and histories. We never merge them into a single Google number.
- Built for longer questionsAI Mode is Google's mode for fuller questions and follow-ups. We use only the first answer to each prompt.
- Collected from search resultsLike AI Overviews, AI Mode is collected through Google results rather than an app, from a US location, in English.
- In every planLite, Starter, Growth and Pro all include AI Mode.
AI Mode vs AI Overviews: what is the difference?
Google AI Mode is Google's mode for fuller questions and follow-ups. AI Overviews are the summaries Google shows above the usual results for some searches.
The two can name different brands for the same question, which is why Firemark counts them separately and shows them side by side. A brand named in AI Overviews can be missing from AI Mode, and the reverse.
To track AI Mode, Firemark sends each prompt as one first question and stores the answer with its sources. Follow-up turns are not measured.

Limits we state
Tracking Google AI Mode covers United States English only, and it is a sample of answers, not a census of everything people ask.
- United States and English only. Other countries and languages are not tracked.
- The counts describe the prompts you track, asked once each per run. They do not describe every question anyone could ask.
- We do not follow up. AI Mode conversations that go further than the first answer are not measured.
- AI Mode answers can differ from one ask to the next, and each prompt is asked once per run.
- Claude is not tracked yet. It is planned for Pro.
Track the other engines beside AI Mode
Each engine has its own counts, so you can see where you are named on one and missing on another.
