The best AI visibility tools for data export in 2026: CSV, MCP and API compared

Getting AI visibility data out matters as much as collecting it. We compare CSV, MCP, API, seats and retention on five tools, with Firemark first.

Updated November 2026. Competitor facts come from each vendor's pricing and documentation pages, checked on 2 November 2026.

An AI visibility dashboard tells you how often ChatGPT, Google's AI answers and Perplexity name your brand. The trouble starts when your boss wants those numbers in the monthly deck, your analyst wants them in Looker Studio and your strategist wants to ask follow-up questions in Claude. A chart you can only look at in one app runs out of road fast.

This guide compares AI visibility tools for data export on the three routes your data can take: a CSV file, an MCP server your AI assistant can query and a REST API for scheduled pipelines. If you are shopping for an AI visibility API, each tool's section says which plan unlocks it and what it reads. For each tool we also say what the file holds, how many seats you get and how long the answers are kept.

One note on scope. Some trackers are built API-first for engineering teams, and this list leaves them out. If a warehouse pipeline is your only need, look for a tool that publishes its API docs and request limits.

CSV, MCP or API: which data route you need

Before you compare tools, decide where the data has to end up. The three routes suit different jobs.

CSV export

A CSV is the simplest route. You download a file of counts and drop it into Google Sheets, Excel or a BI tool such as Looker Studio. It suits monthly reporting, client decks and anyone who wants to build their own charts.

Check what the file holds before you buy. Some exports carry summary counts only. Others add engines, competitors and cited sources. Full answer text is rarer, and some tools keep it in the app.

MCP server

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT read your tracking results directly. You ask a question in plain English ("which competitors did Perplexity name last week?") and the assistant pulls the figures for you. It suits analysts and strategists who already work in an assistant and want to dig into one prompt or one engine's full answer without exporting anything.

REST API

A REST API is the route for engineering and data teams. You write code that calls the vendor on a schedule and loads results into a warehouse such as BigQuery or Snowflake. It suits companies that blend AI visibility with web analytics, CRM or revenue data in their own models.

Only some trackers sell an AI visibility API: Firemark has a read-only REST API on every plan, next to CSV and MCP, and Otterly.AI, AthenaHQ, Scrunch and Profound each list API access on some plan, covered below. Firemark's API reads results, run logs and stored answers and cannot start runs or edit brands. If your team works from an assistant, Firemark's MCP may cover what you were going to build an API pipeline for.

How we chose these tools

We picked five AI visibility trackers that publish how you get data out, then compared them on five points:

  • What's in the export. Counts only, or engines, competitors and sources too.
  • API by plan. Which plan unlocks it, and any request caps.
  • MCP by plan. Which plan unlocks it.
  • Seats. How many people can use the data at the entry price.
  • Retention. How long the vendor says it keeps your answers.

Every price and feature comes from the vendor's own pricing or documentation pages. Where a vendor's page says nothing on a point, the table says "Not stated".

1. Firemark: best overall for teams working from an AI assistant, a sheet or a script

Firemark (tryfiremark.com) is the AI visibility tracker built to be run from Claude or ChatGPT. Its MCP server is on every plan from $29, so your assistant can read the brand's rank, competitors, cited sources and ChatGPT fan-out queries, and set up the prompt set by interview.

It is our top pick for data export because CSV, MCP and a read-only REST API all come on every plan, with unlimited seats and a stated retention period.

Key features

  • MCP server on every plan. Ask Claude or ChatGPT where your brand ranks, which competitors appear, which sources the engines cite and which fan-out queries ChatGPT ran. Your assistant can also read one engine's full answer to one prompt. See how the MCP works.
  • Prompt set built by interview. Your assistant asks about your brand and buyers, then drafts the prompt basket for you to confirm.
  • CSV export of counts. Download prompts, engines, competitors and sources for a sheet or BI tool. The CSV holds counts. Full answers are read in the app, through MCP or through the API.
  • Read-only REST API on every plan. Any member creates keys, and each key reads the workspace's brands, results, run logs and each prompt's full stored answers with sources, at 60 requests a minute per key. It cannot start runs or edit brands.
  • 13 months of full answers. Full answer text and sources are kept for 13 months. Counts, verdicts, snippets and findings are kept for the life of the account.
  • Unlimited seats. Everyone on the team can log in on every plan, from Lite up.
  • Named and linked counted separately. You see when an answer names your brand and when it links to your site.
  • Results by funnel stage and prompt group. Split the figures the way your report is organised.
  • Per-URL citations. See which of your pages the engines cite (per-URL citations are live).
  • Prices on the page, so you see what you will pay without a sales call.

Pricing

  • Lite: $29 a month, 25 prompts, 1 brand, ChatGPT, AI Overviews and AI Mode, weekly or monthly runs.
  • Starter: $79 a month, 100 prompts, daily runs, adds Gemini.
  • Growth: $199 a month, 200 prompts, adds Perplexity.
  • Pro: $499 a month, 500 prompts.

Every plan includes MCP, CSV export, the read-only REST API, unlimited seats and 13 months of full answers. See all plans.

Pros

  • MCP, CSV and a read-only REST API from the $29 plan.
  • Unlimited seats, so data access costs the same as the team grows.
  • A stated 13-month window for full answers and sources.
  • First results within the hour.

Cons

  • The API is read-only and has no webhooks or BI connector, so a warehouse load means a scheduled job that polls it.
  • Full answers stay out of the CSV, and you read them in the app, through MCP or through the API.
  • Lite runs weekly or monthly. Daily runs start on Starter.
  • Gemini starts on Starter and Perplexity on Growth.
  • US English prompts only.

Best for

Teams working from an AI assistant, a sheet or a script: analysts, strategists and agencies in Claude or ChatGPT, anyone who keeps counts in sheets and data teams that want a read-only API without an enterprise contract, all without paying per seat.

  • Enterprise: custom, with the Data API.
  • Extra seats: $25 a month each on Scrunch.

Pros

  • MCP from the entry plan.
  • A large prompt allowance for the price.
  • A Data API path for teams that grow into Enterprise.

Cons

  • At $300 a month, Scrunch Starter is one of the highest self-serve entry prices in this list.
  • Three user licenses on Scrunch Starter, with extra seats at $25 a month each.
  • Sitemap and page audit data are still missing from the MCP.
  • CSV export and answer retention are not stated on the pricing page.

Best for

Larger brands that want MCP with large prompt sets and have a small team using the tool.

4. AthenaHQ: best for CSV plus wide model coverage

AthenaHQ pairs CSV export with an optional paid API and covers a wide list of AI models. It uses a credit system and has a free tier.

Best for

Enterprise data programs with a budget for a custom contract. Our Firemark vs Profound comparison covers the trade-offs in detail.

How to choose an AI visibility tool for data export

Start from where the data has to land.

  • You need a warehouse pipeline. Pick a tool with a REST API: Firemark on every plan (read-only), Otterly.AI from Standard, AthenaHQ with its add-on or Profound on Enterprise.
  • You work from an AI assistant. Pick a tool with MCP: Firemark from $29 or Scrunch on any plan.
  • Many people need the data on a small budget. Firemark has unlimited seats from $29. Otterly.AI and AthenaHQ also list unlimited seats.
  • You need long answer history. Firemark keeps full answers for 13 months on every plan. Profound lists all-time history on Enterprise.
  • You report monthly in sheets. A CSV of counts is enough. Firemark, Otterly.AI and AthenaHQ list one on their published plans.

Before you sign, run this checklist against the vendor's own pages:

  1. What does the export file hold?
  2. Which plan unlocks the API, and what are the request caps?
  3. Which plan unlocks MCP?
  4. How many seats come with the entry plan?
  5. How long are full answers kept?

FAQ

What is the difference between an API and an MCP server for AI visibility data?

A REST API is for code. Your engineers call it on a schedule and load results into a warehouse. An MCP server is for AI assistants. Claude or ChatGPT reads your results when you ask a question in plain English, with no code to write.

Which AI visibility tools export data to CSV?

Firemark exports counts, engines, competitors and sources to CSV on every plan. Full answers are read in the app or through MCP. Otterly.AI lists reports and export on all plans, AthenaHQ includes CSV export in Starter and Profound lists CSV and JSON on Enterprise.

Do AI visibility tools have an API?

Some do. Firemark has a read-only REST API on every plan from $29, at 60 requests a minute per key. Otterly.AI has an API on its Standard and Premium plans from $189 a month, AthenaHQ sells one as a paid add-on and Scrunch and Profound offer one on Enterprise.

Which AI visibility API comes on a self-serve plan?

Firemark's read-only REST API comes with every plan from $29. Any member creates keys, and each key reads brands, results, run logs and each prompt's full stored answers for 13 months, at 60 requests a minute. It cannot start runs or edit brands. Otterly.AI lists its API from the $189 Standard plan, and AthenaHQ sells one as a paid add-on to its $295 Starter plan.

How long do AI visibility tools keep answer history?

Firemark keeps full answers and sources for 13 months, with counts kept for the life of the account. Profound lists all-time history on Enterprise. Otterly.AI, Scrunch and AthenaHQ do not state retention on their pricing pages.

Can I get AI visibility data into Looker Studio or a BI tool?

Yes. The simplest route is a CSV export loaded into Google Sheets or straight into your BI tool. Otterly.AI lists a Looker Studio connector from its Standard plan. For scheduled loads into a warehouse, use a tool with a REST API. Firemark has no BI connector, so its routes are the CSV or a scheduled job against its read-only API.
